How to learn from video lessons

Video lessons from MathGuide Academy show a teacher working through a topic, which can make difficult ideas easier to follow. Watching alone will not make you fluent, so treat each video as a lesson you take part in.

Watch actively

1. Pause before the answer. When a question appears, stop the video and try it yourself first.
2. Write as you watch. Copy the worked steps into your notebook so that you practise the method, not just recognise it.
3. Replay the difficult parts. Slow down or repeat a section until each step makes sense.
4. Finish with practice. After a video, do questions on the same topic from a lesson, the Quiz Bank or a past paper.
